It reached number 2 in the USA
It is still one of the most played 70s songs on radio everywhere. In 1992 it was used for Bill Clinton’s presidential campaign
Although it seems to be a song of hope it was written by Christine Mcvie about her husband John, during the making of the album Rumours they were in the process of divorcing and there were many veiled and some blunt references to their marriage and the faults of each.
Although it seems to be pretty direct, John Mcvie did not find out the song was about him and their failing marriage until he was told by a reporter in an interview nearly 30 years later
