From the smash 1973 album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road , the song was not initially released as a single, Elton thought it too odd for radio but an influential radio station in Detroit began to play it non stop and that led to the song being one of his most well known songs. Bernie Taupin wrote about the music and bands of the time where artists where becoming more well known for their fashion than their music especially the Glam rock bands of the era. It is also said to be about a futuristic all girl band and a fan trying to encourage friends to see them live
