From the 1971 album Tea for The Tillerman the song is a made up conversation  between a father and son, however it may be about Cat Stevens ( Steven Georgiou) and his father Stavros.

Stavros owned a restaurant in London and wanted his son to follow in those footsteps, Steven did work there until he signed a record contract  at 17.

The song was not released as a single but it was the song that led Cat Stevens being signed by Island Records
